The first quarter of the 2014 season for the Houston Texans has already seen first-year head coach Bill O’Brien win more games than the team won all of last year and they’ve done so without No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney who has been out since the first half of the regular season opener.

Clowney is recovering from a torn meniscus in his knee that required surgery and a four-six week timeframe for him to return to the lineup for the Texans. However, the former South Carolina Gamecocks All-American believes it will be closer to the six weeks than the four week recovery period before he is back chasing down quarterbacks.

“Everything is starting to come along just like I want it to. … I think I’ll be back in a few weeks — that’s the goal,” Clowney said, via the Houston Chronicle. “Right now I’m just taking it day by day, just trying to get back healthy. Rehab is coming along good. My leg feels a lot better. I’m just taking it a day at a time right now.”

The 3-1 Texans have the Dallas Cowboys this week followed by a Thursday night game against AFC South rival Indianapolis Colts and a Monday Night Football game at the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 20, so if “few” means three that will be the target date for Clowney to make his return to the team.
