The Cincinnati Bengals have sold nearly 15,000 Devon Still jerseys since the team announced it would donate all proceeds from his jersey’s sales to charity.

Devon Still could hardly have hoped to sell 15,000 jerseys in his entire career. Now, thanks to a charitable announcement by the Cincinnati Bengals made over a month ago, that’s almost exactly how many jerseys have been sold in the name of fighting childhood cancer.

ESPN reports that 14,945 Devon Still jerseys have been sold since the Bengals announced they would donate proceeds from jersey sales to charity. As a result, the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center will receive over $1.25 million.

Still’s daughter, Leah, continues to fight cancerous cells in her body even after a tumor was removed from her abdomen. Leah had been given a 50/50 chance to live, which obviously derailed her father’s training camp, leading to him being cut from the 53-man Bengals roster. The team kept Still on the practice squad so that he could afford Leah’s treatment.

Now thanks to injuries ahead of him on the depth chart, Still has been a regular contributor on the Bengals defense. It’s his contributions off the field that likely will stick with him though.

“We applaud Devon for his openness in sharing his daughter’s challenging story nationwide through media and social media,” Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn said last month. “We also applaud the response of our fans and many others to the jersey sales. The welfare of Devon and Leah are foremost in our minds, but we are proud and excited to be able to be a part of something that can help advance the cause of fighting childhood cancer.”
