There’s no denying that when Josh Gordon steps on a football field, the Cleveland Browns wide receiver makes his team better.
Of course teammates aren’t going to be happy with a player who puts himself first and continues to make poor life decisions leading to excessive suspensions. Alas, that’s exactly what Josh Gordon has done and it’s apparent some aren’t thrilled with his return as they’ve been giving him the cold shoulder.
Gordon made his return to the lineup this past weekend after a ten game suspension and while he put up solid numbers, it was clear his lack of practice was a problem as he routinely made mental mistakes and lacked chemistry with quarterback Brian Hoyer.
“The lowest point of all this I think was the disassociation from a lot of friends you thought were close or you thought you were kind of cool with really not checking on you anymore, [not] hitting you up anymore, [not] wanting to hang out,” Gordon says. “As far as even people in here (with the Browns), I don’t want to throw names around, but I can see it.”
It’s understandable as to why some of Josh Gordon’s teammates would be upset with him, so it’s difficult to begrudge them for such.
As for Gordon, he needs to understand his actions ended up hurting those around him and now he’s coming in and benefiting off their hard work. Of course, winning seems to cure everything so if the Cleveland Browns can continue to play well perhaps the bad blood and frustration may alleviate itself.
For now though it does seem as if there is a bit of mild animosity in the locker room.
