Denver Broncos Re-Sign Struggling Kicker Brandon McManus
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter, the Denver Broncos have re-signed kicker Brandon McManus while waiving WR Isaiah Burse.
That did not take long. The Denver Broncos have re-signed free agent kicker Brandon McManus after some recent struggles at the position.

This would appear to be a little misleading at first. Yes, the Broncos have struggled at the position, but not in the conventional sense when evaluating place kickers traditionally. McManus was just 9-13 on field goal attempts this season, a rate slightly higher than 69%. His replacement, Connor Barth has excelled in that role. He is 5-5 thus far on the season, however there is a caveat to his accuracy. While McManus had been one of the premier touch-back artists at the kicker position, Barth has had some of the lowest averages in the league.
It is likely because of this, that the team has resigned McManus prior to Sunday’s match up with the surprisingly resurgent Buffalo Bills, who stand at 7-5 this year and are looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 1999.
Will the personnel change work? We will have to wait until tomorrow to find out. You can be rest assured though that the Broncos are not taking chances moving forward in any department. They still trail the New England Patriots by virtue of head to head tiebreaker for the AFC’s number one seed. Anything less than a return to the Super Bowl (and really a win this time around) would be considered a colossal disappointment for the franchise.
