The New York Yankees have held trade discussions with the Colorado Rockies centered around All-Star Troy Tulowitzki.

Anything the New York Mets can do, the New York Yankees can do better.

Or something like that.

Just days after it was said the Mets would not be completing a trade with the Colorado Rockies for All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, the Bronx Bombers are said to have had similar trade discussions. That’s the word from CBS’ Jon Heyman who says both teams have discussed a potential Troy Tulowitzki deal.

"Meantime, a couple other teams — including the rival Yankees — are said to have checked in recently on Tulowitzki in the wake of the report here late last week that talks between the Mets and Rockies were ongoing."

Of course, obtaining Troy Tulowitzki is not going to be easy as the Colorado Rockies are said to have significant demands and the New York Yankees farm system isn’t exactly stocked up with talent. Of course, few teams are able to pick up the remaining contract of Tulowitzki easier than the Yankees so they hold a bit of an advantage there.

Still, this seems to be more of the Bronx Bombers kicking the tires on the All-Star shortstop more than anything.

Also of note, Heyman goes on to suggest the Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels and St. Louis Cardinals are his preferred trade destinations. There are also said to be two unnamed teams who Tulo would be interested in joining if he was to be traded.

The Colorado Rockies meanwhile have reportedly been playing hardball and on the surface seem content to keep Troy Tulowitzki if their trade demands aren’t met.
