AJ McCarron thinks he can be a $100 million quarterback someday
Bengals backup quarterback A.J. McCarron believes he can be a $100 million quarterback during his career in the NFL.
With each year of losing in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, comes questions about the future of Andy Dalton in Cincinnati and how long the team will stick with their quarterback.

While the Bengals have invested more than $100 million in Andy Dalton, their backup quarterback AJ McCarron wants a chance to be able to challenge Dalton for a chance at the quarterback position to make each other better.
Not only does he want to compete with Dalton, he wants to be a $100 million quarterback someday too.
Speaking to ESPN, McCarron discussed being ready to challenge for some playing time this year.
"“I want to compete,” McCarron said. “Andy’s our starter. I know that. I love Andy to death. But I want to make him better every way that I can.“Like I told him, hopefully one day me and him can be retired and look back on it and we’re both $100 million guys. That’s my dream.”"
Now it doesn’t seem likely that the Bengals will be looking to have a quarterback competition after sinking over $100 million into Dalton last off-season.
Dalton while not exactly flashy has led the Bengals to the playoffs since entering the league and the team has been one of the stronger teams in the AFC.
The problem with Cincinnati is that they haven’t been able to get out of the Wild Card Round and still haven’t won a playoff game in 24 years. If Dalton can’t produce a playoff victory soon, there will probably be speculation as to if he can be the guy to deliver for the Bengals.
With a strong AFC North and many teams in the AFC getting better overall, it isn’t going to be easy to make the playoffs for Cincinnati this season. If Dalton can’t get them there or win a game, then perhaps after five seasons it might be time to take a look somewhere else.
Perhaps that somewhere else is AJ McCarron. It’s great to see strong conviction from the young quarterback who won multiple national championships in college. He’s a proven winner with the right attitude and the Bengals liked what they saw in him enough to draft him.
McCarron is ready to compete for the quarterback position and earn the big money. However, he just might have to wait a bit.
