Carli Lloyd said she envisioned scoring multiple goals before the Women’s World Cup Final on Sunday, when she scored a hat trick.
The United States women’s national team won their third Women’s World Cup on Sunday largely in part to Carli Lloyd. The USWNT star scored twice in the first five minutes and added a third goal roughly 10 minutes later to give her a hat trick in the game.
While some were surprised at Lloyd’s scoring out put for the game, Lloyd wasn’t one of them. Lloyd says that before she left for the World Cup she visualized scoring four goals in a World Cup Final.

She didn’t score four, but the USWNT did in the first 15 minutes, three of which were hers. I think we can give her credit for this one.
Though she might not remember it, saying she felt like she blacked out for the first 30 minutes of the game.
Lloyd: "I feel like I blacked out for the first 30 minutes of that game." Yeah, her and Japan. #FIFAWWC #USA

Lloyd say “we wrote history today,” and while the team did, so did Lloyd.
Carli Lloyd: "It's been amazing. We wrote history today."

USWNT manager Jill Ellis also envisioned success, saying she saw them lifting the trophy at the end of the game.
USWNT coach Jill Ellis: “Yeah I envisioned us lifting the trophy. Five is kind of a dream come true.” Jokes that 5 was "ambitious" to dream.
