According to Vegas, Alabama running back Derrick Henry remains the Heisman Trophy favorite and LSU running back Leonard Fournette’s odds dip slightly

After emerging as the Vegas favorite to win the Heisman Trophy last week, Alabama running back Derrick Henry’s strong performance against Mississippi State this weekend only strengthened his candidacy (and odds) as the front-runner for the Award.

According to Bovada’s latest Hesiman odds, Henry is still a 2/3 betting favorite:

Not much changed at the top, however, but it is interesting to note that LSU running back’s Leonard Fournette has seen his odds continue to dip in previous weeks. Two weeks ago, both of the nation’s top running backs met in a showdown in Tuscaloosa that had playoff implications for both Alabama and LSU. Henry thrived, while Fournette struggled; Alabama defeated LSU 30-16 and Henry took the lead over Fournette.

The LSU speedster has also failed to top 100 rushing yards in consecutive games for the first time this season. His stock remains slightly down, although he remains at 9/2 to win the Award.

Rounding out the top five is Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman.

Elliott, the preseason favorite, remains the most likely to gain the most should the top two struggle in the season’s final weeks. Watson’s Tigers are undefeated and the favorite to win the ACC. Should Clemson finish undefeated, win the ACC and make this year’s playoff, Watson will undoubtedly earn his spot as a finalist for the award.

Coleman’s stock took a slight dip when Baylor suffered its first loss of the season, 44-34, at home against Oklahoma. The loss, coupled with an Oklahoma State victory, means Baylor’s road to the playoff just became nearly impossible.

Henry’s Crimston Tide get a break this weekend hosting Charleston Southern at home before the all-important Iron Bowl on Nov. 28, which would punch their ticket to the SEC Championship Game.
