Matt Ryan (understandably) wanted nothing whatsoever to do with blocking Nick Fairley

The Atlanta Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints Monday night in the Big Easy, with Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan having a pretty solid night in the win. He threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, probably one of the better performances that he’ll have this season.

However, Matty Ice’s night wasn’t all positive highlights. There was one point in the game that he’d probably like to take back, not because he made a bad decision, but for the fact that it was caught on camera.

As the Falcons were taking care of their division foe on Monday night, at one point in the game Falcons running back Devonta Freeman found the edge and he had a blocker in front of him in the form of his quarterback Ryan. Well, you see, the only problem was — Ryan found himself right in the path of Saints defensive tackle Nick Fairley.

You see, Fairley is a MUCH larger man than Ryan, so the Atlanta signal-caller decided to basically save his own life.

Some people might laugh at this, but you know what — I’m with you here, Matty. Imagine you’re standing in front of that! Nick Fairley is basically a tank with legs and he was ready to squash Ryan like a pancake if he had the chance. Smartly, Ryan did not give him that chance, which again, was one of the best decisions that he will make in his career.

Not to mention, not only did Ryan come away not flattened, he came away with the win when all was said and done in this one and that’s what matters the most.

OK, actually, his decision to not get destroyed might be the best part of his night.
