MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel June 5th

I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.

Tonight’s slate features seven games, with Atlanta (5.2), Houston (5.1), Philadelphia (4.9), and St. Louis (4.8), holding the best projected team totals. With high-priced players available tonight, finding value will be critical for success. Here are a handful of value plays on DraftKings and FanDuel.

MLB DFS: DraftKings MLB Values:

Alcides Escobar – KC (SS) – $2300

Kansas City will host the Houston Astros tonight, in a game in which the Royals are projected to score 4.5 runs. While Kansas City will be the underdog in this matchup, they still have a reasonably high team total, given the game total of 9.5 runs. Alcides Escobar is one of the best “punt” options on the slate, as his price has fallen to $2300, a full $1000 from mid May when he was priced over the $3000 mark. This price is simply too cheap for a player projected to bat in the lead off spot, with this team total. It’s important to note it should be a warm night at Kauffman Stadium, with temperatures in the mid 80’s. This may be a factor in why the game total is on the rise.

Nick Markakis – ATL (OF) – $3100

Atlanta will continue to have a favorable team total tonight, as they face the righty, Nick Pivetta. Nick Markakis hasn’t been able to produce much in these recent, high total, games, but being on the good side of a lefty vs. righty split may help change things tonight. Markakis will bat third and will benefit from facing a righty, where he holds a .344 wOBA split and a .144 ISO split. Markakis is much cheaper on DraftKings relative to FanDuel.

MLB DFS: FanDuel MLB Values:

Carlos Correa – HOU (SS) – $4300

As mentioned, Houston has one of the best projected team totals on the slate, of 5.1 runs. Carlos Correa, and most of the Astros hitters, are priced up on DraftKings, and much cheaper on FanDuel. Correa should be a popular play, given his recent performances, but he’ll still offer value at this price. Houston will face the righty, Ian Kennedy, who hasn’t fared well of late. In the last 15 days, Kennedy’s opposing batted ball distance is up 10 feet, his opposing hard hit percentage is up 13% and his opposing exit velocity is up 5 MPH, over his yearly averages.

More from FanSided

Matt Kemp – ATL (OF) – $3900

Matt Kemp won’t draw the most favorable match-up, against a righty, but he is severely under-priced on FanDuel. Kemp should be batting clean up, and offers the most power upside of any batter in Atlanta’s lineup. If Atlanta’s offense can live up to their projected team total, Matt Kemp may benefit from getting after the Phillies bullpen early, who have been gravely overworked.

Mike Moustakas – KC (3B) – $3100

Mike Moustakas may go overlooked on tonight’s slate, but I’d urge you to take a look into the Royals third baseman. Moustakas should bat second tonight, and has one of the more favorable and dramatic splits. Moustakas will face a righty, where he holds a .360 wOBA split and a .267 ISO split. With a power batter priced this low, and with predictably low ownership, he’s worth a look.
