MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel July 7th
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s slate features 13 games, with Colorado (6.5), New York (6.3), Cleveland (5.8), and Texas (5.5), holding the best projected team totals. With high price players available tonight, finding value will be critical for success. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
MLB DFS – DraftKings MLB Values:

Jose Bautista – TOR (OF) – $3700
Toronto will host Houston tonight, in a game in which the Blue Jays are projected to score 4.7 runs. Jose Bautista is one of the best value plays on the slate at only $3700 on DraftKings. This the lowest that he’s been priced in the recent weeks and he’ll be in a favorable matchup against a right-handed pitcher. Bautista fairs much better against righties, with a .363 wOBA split and a .203 ISO split. Bautista is on of the best bargains relative to FanDuel, where his price is much higher.
Michael Brantley – CLE (OF) – $3700
Michael Brantley is another affordable outfielder on DraftKings, who should benefit from a high team total and matchup against a righty. Cleveland is projected to score 5.8 runs and Brantley should be batting in third. Brantley is coming off of a big night last night, where he accumulated 21 DraftKings’ points. He’ll face a righty tonight where he holds a .365 wOBA split. Brantley’s price has also fallen to $3700, the cheapest he’s been in the past 15 days.
MLB DFS – FanDuel MLB Values:

Jason Kipnis – CLE (2B) – $2700
Jason Kipnis is another Indians batter that could benefit from a high team total tonight, but is a better play on FanDuel, at only $2700. This price is simply too cheap for a lead off man hitting on a team with a projected total of 5.8 runs.

Kipnis hasn’t done much of late, but he’ll face the struggling righty, Jordan Zimmermann. Zimmermann has some of the worst batted ball stats against, as his opposing distance is 223 feet, his opposing hard hit percentage is 37%, and his opposing exit velocity is 92 MPH.
Shin-Soo Choo – TEX (OF) – $3100
Shin-Soo Cho is one of the best bargain on FanDuel, as he is priced much higher on DraftKings. Texas has a projected team total of 5.5 runs and if Choo is leading off, he should be considered on FanDuel. Choo’s price has dropped on FanDuel as of late, however, his batted ball stats have all been up. In the last 15 days, his distance is up 8 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 10%, and his exit velocity hasn’t changed. These numbers would indicate a possible price increase, so given the discount, he should be in play tonight.
Chase Utley – LAD (2B) – $2500
Chase Utley could be batting first tonight, given the match-up against the righty Jason Hammel. Utley is used much more frequently against righties, as he holds a .319 wOBA split. The Dodgers have an encouraging team total of 5.4 runs, and Utley is simply underpriced in this spot.
