DraftKings Main MLB Picks For August 2

12 of the 15 games are in the main DraftKings tournament tonight. All of the good pitching options go tonight. Should we fade them like we did last night? Sale and Carrasco got torched last night. Where are the bargains if we do fade? Let’s check some stats!

More from DFS

The money line last night was at 117.85. My Phillies stack lineup just missed. The other was destroyed by Jon Lester for what he and his mates did to Patrick Corbin. Even Joey Gallo couldn’t save that lineup!

The winning lineup was at 218.25. Amazingly, that was the only lineup above 200! He rode solid pitching from Jimmy Nelson and Kenta Maeda with huge days from Evan Longoria and Howie Kendrick to victory.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

MIAMI, FL – MAY 16: Dallas Keuchel #60 of the Houston Astros throws a pitch during the third inning against the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park on May 16, 2017 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Eric Espada/Getty Images) /

P: Dallas Keuchel ($10,500): Keuchel has held the Rays to a .237 average in 76 at bats with just three runs and 22 strikeouts. There is no reason for Keuchel to be this cheap tonight. He is 9-0 with a 1.95 ERA this season. His price is down due to a bit of a hiccup in his return from the disabled list against Detroit, but he should look sharp tonight against the free-swinging Rays.

P: A.J. Cole ($6,600): Cole was strong against the Phillies in his first spot start of the season last month. This is also a good situation for Cole. Marlins Park is very pitcher-friendly, and the Marlins offense continues to be in the bottom third of the league. All options in this range contain some risk. I had Trevor Bauer here until the Red Sox blasted Carlos Carrasco last night. Cole looks like a pretty safe option for a quality start tonight.

C: Francisco Cervelli ($2,600): I will move to Devin Mesoraco if he knee is better since he has hit a homer against Trevor Williams. If not, my default is Cervelli. He has always been a good hitter, so he is a good way to get some exposure just in case Robert Stephenson struggles again.

1B: Cody Bellinger ($4,500): Much like last night, Bellinger is too cheap. He hit a homer off of Lucas Sims last night. Now he gets to tee off against Julio Teheran, who still hasn’t figured out how to get lefties out with any consistency. Bellinger didn’t get a hit against Teheran in his first game against him. I’m betting he bucks that trend tonight.

2B: Howie Kendrick ($3,700): Kendrick had a huge night last night batting second in the Nationals order. His problem in Philadelphia wasn’t lack of production. It was staying healthy. Kendrick could be a force batting in the two hole in this lineup. I will play him with confidence at this price.

3B: Freddie Freeman ($5,100): Thanks to shoddy fielding, Brock Stewart still has a 0.00 ERA. Truth be told, he really didn’t pitch well against the Twins, errors or not. Freeman looks like a bargain at this price against a middling right hander in perhaps the most friendly park in the league for left handed power.

SS: Corey Seager ($5,500): Seager is 3-9 in his career against Julio Teheran. If that isn’t impressive enough, all three of those hits have cleared the fences. Teheran can’t keep him in any yard. Now Seager gets to tee off of Teheran in a lefty dream park.

OF: Odubel Herrera ($4,000): Herrera is 1-2 with a solo homer and two runs scored in his career against JC Ramirez. Ramirez is one of the more popular streaming options tonight, but I am leery. The Phillies are starting to hit lately. I don’t like them enough for a stack, but I do want some exposure here.

OF: Keon Broxton ($3,900): Broxton has beaten up on Adam Wainwright so far in his career. He is 7-9 with a walk, two doubles, a triple, two homers, four runs scored, and three RBI against Wainwright. Broxton could be one of the hottest bargains of the night tonight.

OF: Carlos Gonzalez ($3,600): Chris Flexen was knocked around by the Padres in his major league debut. What do you think the Rockies will do to him in Coors Field? I am taking the cheap road here with CarGo. He is finally starting to come around, posting a .324 average over his last ten games. The power isn’t there yet, but it may not be far off.

CHICAGO, IL – JULY 26: Jake Arrieta #49 of the Chicago Cubs pitches against the Chicago White Sox during the first inning at Guaranteed Rate Field on July 26, 2017 in Chicago, Illinois. (Photo by Jon Durr/Getty Images) /

P: Jake Arrieta ($10,300): Arrieta has dominated Arizona in his career. The Diamondbacks are hitting just .197 off of him in 76 at bats with only one homer. They have scored seven runs, but the 24 strikeouts goes a long ways towards mitigating any damage done. Arrieta has a solid 3.86 ERA at home this year, and has a 3.46 ERA overall in the last ten games. He has rebounded from a slow start with five quality starts in his last six tries. Arrieta looks like a solid play tonight due to the lack of midrange options.

More from FanSided

P: Brent Suter ($6,200): Suter had some back luck in his start against St. Louis earlier this year, but he has held them to a .167 average in 30 at bats with only one homer and two runs while striking out seven. Suter was better against the cards in relief, and his start against him was one of the first of his career. He has since turned in five starts and given up two runs or less in all of them. He also is a strong bet for a win against Wainwright.

C: Matt Wieters ($2,400): Wieters only has one career hit against Vance Worley. As you may have guessed, it’s a home run. Wieters is simply too cheap for what he is capable of against an average pitcher.

1B: Edwin Encarnacion ($3,800): Edwin’s slump has him dirt cheap today. That’s just fine with me. He is 13-40((.325) with five doubles, three homers, six runs scored, and ten RBI against Rick Porcello in his career. Porcello’s peripherals are pretty close to late year’s Cy Young campaign, but he is still having issues with the long ball. He has allowed a staggering 25 on the season, including 13 in the last ten games. Until that stops, Porcello’s ERA wont get much lower than the current 4.55 mark.

2B: Daniel Murphy ($4,200): Murphy is 12-22(.545) with two walks, two doubles, a triple, five runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Worley. Murphy has hit everyone this year, as shown by his .330 batting average this season. There is simply no reason for him to be this cheap.

3B: Kyle Seager ($4,300): Seager is 5-13(.385) with two walks, a homer, two runs scored, and four runs scored in his career against Andrew Cashner. Much has been made of his lack of power this year, but Seager is still on pace for more than 20 homers this year. He could add another here.

SS: Addison Russell ($3,300): Russell is perfect in his career against Zach Godley. Russell has faced him twice. He has homered twice. That perfection may come to an end tonight, but I still like Russell to get something here. The price is definitely right to find out!

OF: Charlie Blackmon ($5,500): Chris Flexen is going to have all sorts of problems in Coors Field tonight. The Rockies are a really expensive stack, but I definitely want the leadoff hitter here. Even if I can’t get anyone else with him.

OF: Mike Trout ($5,300): Jake Thompson was solid in his first start against the Braves. Solid wont cut it against Mike Trout in his home pond. He has 12 homers in only 104 home at bats this season. Thompson has been warned…..

OF: Josh Reddick ($4,700): Austin Pruitt will get at least one more start after a tough one at Yankee stadium last week. You know, I don’t blame the Rays. Why have Brent Honeywell make his first two starts against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium and against the best offense in the league in the Astros. Let Pruitt take his lumps and bring Honeywell up when the schedule is more friendly. I expect Houston to hit Pruitt hard as well. Reddick is a solid place to start!
