Seahawks Offensive Line – Fantasy Outlook after Week 1

The Seattle Seahawks opened the season against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field – one of the most chaotic stadiums in professional football. In a hostile environment, a team must protect the football and score touchdowns on drives deep in enemy territory. The Seahawks failed to do both.

The Hawks offense had a dismal performance, scoring 9 measly points against a defense that gave up over 24-points a game last season, according to Pro Football Reference. The Hawks offensive linemen were lame and ineffective which inevitably lead to Russell Wilson being sacked 3 times, including a strip-sack recovered by Green Bay on the Seahawks 6-yard line.

Seattle’s O-line was weak, slow, unaware, and lacking technical skill at the position. On one first quarter play, outside linebacker Nick Perry bull rushed Seattle’s left tackle Rees Odhiambo and laid him flat on his butt en-route to a 6-yard sack.

Wilson continued taking snaps under center despite being under constant duress. This baffling decision makes you wonder if Darrell Bevell knows how to call an effective offense that considers player safety.

Seahawks players fantasy outlook?

This ineffective season opener is reminiscent of last year when the Seahawks scored only 15-points in their first 2 games. The good news is that the Hawks offense eventually meshed and went on to score 24+ points in 10 games.

My advice would be to sit Seahawks players against teams that have a great front-7 on defense. I wouldn’t trust this offensive line to stop a nosebleed. If Russell Wilson is running for his life he cannot effectively distribute the ball to his teammates.

Next week, the Seahawks look to bounce back in their home opener against the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners have not beaten the Seahawks since the 2013 season, and the Hawks hope to continue this streak. This could be a prime fantasy match-up for Russell Wilson and company.
