Inaugural AEW World Champion Chris Jericho will defend his title against Cody at Full Gear on Saturday, Nov. 9.

At All Out, Chris Jericho became “Le Champion” when he beat Adam “Hangman” Page to become the first AEW World Champion. He made headlines when he literally lost the title belt the next day, but it was successfully recovered. Cody then defeated Sammy Guevara to keep his title shot at the first episode of AEW Dynamite.

Since the match was made official, Jericho has taunted Cody by saying he hated his father, interrupting his speech on Dynamite and having Jack Hager slam Dustin Rhodes’ arm in a car door during their contract signing last week. Cody responded to the original promo by attacking Jericho at New York Comic Con and cut a blistering promo on Road to AEW on TNT.

Cody attempted to address his opponent on the Oct. 23 episode of Dynamite  when Jericho interrupted his promo. His brother, Dustin, MJF and DDP joined him in a brawl against the Inner Circle. They successfully ran off the troublemakers for the evening.

This match is so important because if Cody wins, he will earn his first world championship in any promotion. He has said in the past that Vince McMahon never saw him as “The Guy” to put the biggest title in the company on. Cody has had a chip on his shoulder trying to prove that he is worthy.

As the inaugural world champion, Jericho wants to keep the title as long as he can. He still wants his thank you. He’s also the leader of The Inner Circle and needs the gold while in charge. “Le Champion” has extended his stay in the wrestling business by becoming  AEW World Champion. He isn’t going to want to give that up anytime soon.

A match stipulation was added that ensures a winner. There will be a three-judge panel at ringside should the match go to a 60-minute draw. If the judges can’t pick an unanimous winner, the majority decision will win the match. Since this new stipulation was added, the match will likely go Broadway. The stipulation also promises to make for a very exciting match.

Who do you think will win the match? Do you like the stipulation? Who do you think the judges will be? Let us know in the comments.
