The Chiefs are very well-positioned to repeat as champions
The Kansas City Chiefs very well could repeat as Super Bowl champions.
Could life be any better for Kansas City Chiefs fans right now?
The answer to that question would be a resounding no. Not only did they win the Super Bowl in February, but they made history with Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year contract extension and made things even sweeter by agreeing to terms with star defensive tackle Chris Jones ahead of the deadline.
With 20 starters all set to return this campaign, the Chiefs surely look like a team poised to go on another Super Bowl run. Is it too early to starting thinking about a potential dynasty here?
In terms of this offseason, goodness, general manager Brett Veach and the Kansas City front office have absolutely nailed it. And, only more good things are expected to be on the way.
First off, locking up Mahomes to his mega-contract was an incredible move. We’ve seen time and time again how contract talks can lead to drama and ruin a team’s chemistry. Just ask the Dallas Cowboys about that. Plus, making Jones, the straw that stirs the drink in the trenches for the defense, happy was a brilliant move as well.
With so many returning starters and the Chiefs featuring one of the most entertaining offenses in the game, who will be able to stop them next winter? It’s a task that will surely be easier said than done, especially with the team adding talented running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire via the NFL Draft. You’ve almost got to feel bad for opposing defensive coordinators at this point.
Right now, Chiefs fans have nothing to worry about. Other than Marquise Goodwin pushing Tyreek Hill as the fastest man in the league, this team feels unbeatable right now. If you’re feeling confident about Kansas City repeating as champs, you have every reason to be a little cocky.
