Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is trying to downplay his return to Dallas.

The NFC East is one giant disaster in 2020 and that means the 0-4 New York Giants are still in contention to take home the division. Scoring more than nine points in a game would help the cause.

The Giants are abysmal on offense this season. Losing Saquon Barkley obviously hurt, but new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett can’t seem to work any magic with Daniel Jones. The offense hasn’t scored more than 16 points in a game this season and have a total of 47 on the year.

The opposite is true for the Dallas Cowboys. Garrett was let go and the offense is thriving. The defense is the glaring problem and that sets up an intriguing matchup between the two teams in Week 5. One would think Garrett would like to make a statement against his old team where he spent most of his professional life. Instead, he provided the usual coachspeak on preparing the Giants.

Jason Garrett has to fix the Giants offense

Garrett doesn’t have time to worry about the Cowboys. He needs to find a way to turn his offense around and made that clear, according to NFL.com.

“The biggest thing we’re all focused on is what we can do to help the New York Giants play as well as we can play and that’s what we’re focused on as players, coaches,” Garrett said Thursday.

It is only natural for Garrett to want to beat his old team. But that task is tougher given the state of his new team. The Giants offense is averaging 278 yards per game. That is tied with the New York Jets for the worst mark in the league. Meanwhile, the Cowboys lead the league at 509 yards per game.

The fascinating part of Sunday’s game will be the battle between Garrett’s offense and the Dallas defense allowing over 430 yards per game. Who will come out on top, if anyone?

Next. The NFC East standings are drunk. dark

Garrett has too much on his mind this week to focus on revenge. However, bringing his offense to life and taking down the Cowboys in Dallas would be one of his greatest feats as a coach.
