Lane Kiffin unloaded on Alabama’s defense, but Nick Saban still came out on top.

The Alabama-Ole Miss game on Saturday night was an offensive explosion with 111 points between the two teams, just like everyone expected.

It was a game featuring exactly three punts between the two squads. Fifteen drives ended in touchdowns. A combined 1,370 yards of offense were achieved.

You might expect a Lane Kiffin coached team to be involved in such an avalanche of offensive output. It’s far more surprising to know Nick Saban presided over one half of the carnage.

Nick Saban’s Alabama got the last laugh over Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss

What Ole Miss did to Alabama’s defense was impressive.

Matt Corral threw for 365 yards and two touchdowns while extending plays with his legs and adding 40 yards rushing. He looked like a bright young talent to give Rebel fans big hope for the future.

The rushing attack did the unexpected to the Crimson Tide. Snoop Conner and Jerrion Ealy gashed the defensive for 248 yards and four touchdowns. No prior Saban-coached team at Alabama allowed so many rushing scores.

Unfortunately for Kiffin, his offense wasn’t enough to get one over on Saban. That’s because Saban’s offense, run by Steve Sarkisian, did Ole Miss one or two better.

Alabama got an outstanding performance from running back Najee Harris with 206 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, a single-game program record.

Quarterback Mac Jones put up 417 yards and two touchdowns.

The Crimson Tide piled on 63 points and 723 yards of offense.

Before the matchup, Kiffin was asked about his relationship with a bunch of other former Saban assistants. He went with a familial comparison.

“We all have the same father,” Kiffin said in his typical deadpan on The Paul Finebaum Show.

Well, on Saturday night, Saban reminded Kiffin exactly who his daddy is.
