Baylor football’s one and only Heisman winner Robert Griffin III is extremely confident his Bears will win the national championship on Monday.

Baylor basketball wasn’t even done punching their ticket to the Championship Game when Baylor football legend Robert Griffin III gave his alma mater the ultimate vote of confidence.

RGIII is off-the-scale confident Baylor will win the national title, whether they face Gonzaga or UCLA on Monday.

“I’m not out there playing, but there’s a couple things I know that Baylor’s going to do. They’re going to outwork every team they play,” Griffin said on the March Madness’ Twitter Live. “My confidence is a 10. It’s 11. I really believe they can get it done.”

Griffin acknowledged the importance of Baylor closing out the game, but he definitely didn’t need to worry about a blown lead. The Bears were up 25 points on Houston at the half and ran away with their 78-59 Final Four victory.

Baylor basketball’s run is nearing the historic level of RGIII’s Heisman

Baylor managed to snag a No. 1 seed for the first time in program history this year and they haven’t disappointed. They’ve taken care of business against every opponent they’ve faced from Hartford to Wisconsin to Villanova to Arkansas and now Houston.

Their reward is their first Final Four victory since 1948. Way back then they lost to Kentucky in the title game. The task now is to bring home a first-ever national title for the program.

Griffin III was the first Baylor player to win the Heisman. Jared Butler and company can also write their names in the history books if they do what Griffin laid out: They’ll have to outwork their opponent on defense, offense, the boards, in transition, and at the free throw line.

Even that may not be enough if their opponent is Gonzaga. The Zags battle the UCLA Bruins on Saturday night to determine who gets to face Baylor on Monday.
