New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose doesn’t pretend to know what the future holds, but he did confirm he’d love to be back with the team next year.

Derrick Rose’s four months with the New York Knicks were incredibly successful. Now they need to figure out if they’re willing to pay up to keep him around.

The veteran point guard will be a free agent this offseason. When asked if he has a sense of the future, he didn’t have an answer.

“That’s not up to me. That’s up to the front office. They’ve got big plans,” Rose said. “Who knows if I may be back? I don’t know. I’m going to let my agent and them talk about it, but it’s really not up to me at all.”

While the decision is in the hands of the Knicks front office, Rose was upfront about what he wants to happen.

“I would love to come back. Who wouldn’t want to play for the Knicks or be in New York?” Rose said. “I would love it, but at the same time, I know that it’s out of my hands.”

Derrick Rose would like to stay with the Knicks for another season

Rose may be on his way to 33 years old, but he looked like a young buck for the Knicks in the playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks. He led the team with 19.4 points per game, showing the value of playoff experience, while Julius Randle struggled to find his footing.

During the regular season, Rose came off the bench to pitch in 14.9 points, 4.2 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. He was the team’s second-most efficient player behind Randle.

New York has a bunch of free agents to make decisions on, including Reggie Bullock, Alec Burks, Taj Gibson, Nerlens Noel and Elfrid Payton.

It would make a ton of sense for the Knicks to bring Rose back, but the price will have to be right relative to all their other contract decisions.
