Roses are red, violets are blue. JuJu Smith-Schuster helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII because of a controversial defensive holding call, isn’t that cruel?

Just days after the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster is already up to Eli Apple-caliber shenanigans.

Smith-Schuster made his biggest impact in the Super Bowl by drawing a defensive hold penalty on Eagles’ James Bradberry in the fourth quarter, which gave Kansas City a fresh set of downs to ice the game.

That was the blown whistle heard ’round the country as one highly questionable two-second jersey grab led to the Eagles losing the Super Bowl in gut-wrenching fashion.

The eruption of blind rage and fury directed at the officiating crew that night has since died down, and people gradually lowered their shaking fists knowing what’s done is done. The call was made. The Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII. There’s always next year.

Kansas City’s wild post-game celebrations included star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce partying it up in Phoenix, but one Chiefs players had to choose violence. There’s always one.

Kansas City Chiefs’ JuJu Smith-Schuster holds James Bradberry near and dear to his heart

On Valentine’s Day, out of all days, JuJu Smith-Schuster posted a story on Instagram that featured a card with James Bradberry’s face on it along with the caption, “I’ll hold you when it matters most.”

Insert skull-and-crossbones emoji here. It’s quite funny but also….probably too soon?

Smith-Schuster hasn’t made too many waves in Kansas City this past year despite being a notorious Tik-Tok-er from his time on the Pittsburgh Steelers. The wideout made a good call to decline Jackson Mahomes’ Tik Tok collab invitations and instead focus on the 2022 season, and now he’s set to enter free agency with his future hanging in the balance.

Following his first Super Bowl win on the Chiefs, it seems likely that Smith-Schuster wants to stay with his current team. The feeling could be mutual, especially after Smith-Schuster recorded seven catches for 53 yards in the Super Bowl, playing a key role in short-yardage passing situations.

Maybe Smith-Schuster knows his time in Kansas City is coming to an end soon, so he’s just making the most of his numbered days. Wherever Smith-Schuster goes, James Bradberry will always have a place in his heart.
