NFL Rumors: Aaron Rodgers could make Jets wait on trade, per insider

It almost feels like a foregone conclusion at this point that Aaron Rodgers is going to be the quarterback of the New York Jets when Week 1 of the 2023 season arrives. Gang Green is pulling out all of the stops to try and woo the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback, including flying out to California to meet with him on Tuesday.

The only thing left might actually be for Rodgers to sign off on the deal and to work with his contract to make it happen. After all, the indication is that there might already even be trade parameters in place between the Jets and Packers. And yet, it still might take a while.

After the reports that New York’s brass was meeting with Rodgers and that the Jets had been granted permission, NFL insider Ian Rapoport chimed in with what felt like a pertinent note, saying that Rodgers has never been shy about delaying decisions or taking his time and that there could be a wait for any trade to happen.

Nothing about that message should discourage Jets fans about the possibility of getting a massive upgrade at quarterback. In fact, it should be a sign for optimism. All the writing on the wall is that this trade is going to happen — it just might take a little bit more time than some fans would like for it to actually become reality.
