Breaking down The Masters DraftKings picks for the week at Augusta National with top plays, top fades and building a PGA DFS golf lineup.

No week on the calendar excites golf fans quite like The Masters. Whenever it’s time to stroll down Magnolia Lane to Augusta National Golf Club, it’s the epicenter of the golfing world. And as such, the PGA DFS players out there are rubbing their hands together in eager anticipation for Masters DraftKings picks.

With a limited field of only 88 players, Masters DraftKings picks present and extremely difficult proposition as we try to find value when, frankly, there isn’t much. It’s very much about identifying the players who are in form and have the history that says that they will compete well at The Masters this year.

We’re coming off of a solid week with our entire PGA DFS lineup for the Valero making the cut and cashing in tournament games. So let’s keep that rolling as we get into our Masters DraftKings picks with top plays and fades for each pricing range before building a winning lineup for the week.

The Masters DraftKings picks for PGA DFS lineups: Top Plays

$10,000: Rory McIlroy ($10,600) – As I often do, my pick to win this week is one of my top plays, and I have Rory McIlroy completing the career grand slam at Augusta National with a victory this week. Rory’s ball striking has been elite and he seemingly found his mojo with the putter at the Match Play. Most importantly, though, I think his outright second finish and Sunday 64 last year at this tournament will bolster his confidence and, ultimately, help carry him to a win. Also Consider: Scottie Scheffler ($11,100), Jon Rahm ($10,800)

$9,000: Jordan Spieth ($9,700) – Yes, when you play Jordan Spieth, you better get ready for a haunted house type of viewing experience. But it’s all there for Spieth at a place where he’s a past champion and has often contended. He leads the field in weighted Strokes Gained: Approach over the last 20 rounds and has three Top 20 finishes, including two Top 5s, in his last three stroke play starts. He’s trending for a big moment at Augusta and I’m in on it. Also Consider: Patrick Cantlay ($9,500), Max Homa ($9,200), Collin Morikawa ($9,100), Xander Schauffele ($9,000)

$8,000: Jason Day ($8,700) – Speaking of players who are trending, you have to look at J-Day. He comes into this tournament with four straight Top 20 finishes and is sixth in weighted Strokes Gained: Total over the past 20 rounds in this field. With a strong overall history and proof that he’s healthy, Day is a live sleeper to really make noise this week. Also Consider: Tony Finau ($8,900), Cameron Young ($8,600), Viktor Hovland ($8,500), Will Zalatoris ($8,200)

$7,000: Brooks Koepka ($7,600) – It’s so difficult to know what to do with the LIV Golf crew this week but, after winning the event in Orlando this past weekend, I’m ready to believe in Brooks Koepka. He says he’s healthy and the win is all the evidence I need to support that. And when Koepka is healthy, he simply contends at majors. I have to believe his price would be higher if it didn’t come out before last week, but I’m ready to take advantage of that. Also Consider: Shane Lowry ($7,900), Justin Rose ($7,800), Tommy Fleetwood ($7,700), Corey Conners ($7,600), Tiger Woods ($7,300), Chris Kirk ($7,100),

$6,000: Danny Willett ($6,600) – You’re telling me that a past champion who finished T12 in last year’s Masters and is coming in gaining 1.23 weighted strokes tee-to-green over the last 20 rounds with four straight Top 35 finishes is only priced at $6,600? I’m liking where Willett’s game is right now and this is a place he obviously knows well and has succeeded at plenty of times before. Also Consider: Bubba Watson ($6,900), Kevin Na ($6,500)

The Masters DraftKings picks for PGA DFS lineups: Top Fades

$10,000: None – You are absolutely outside of your mind if you think that I’m fading anyone from the trio of Rory, Scottie and Rahm. It’s not happening and, in fact, I’d think that we’re more likely that the winner is in that group than it is that one of them finishes poorly.

$9,000: Justin Thomas ($9,300) – Point blank, something’s not right with Justin Thomas. I picked JT to win at Augusta last year because the course and ideation to playing it should suit his game perfectly. But he didn’t fully deliver and now he’s in far worse form, most notably not showing his trademark elite approach play. I worry that there’s an injury lingering here and I’m too scared by that and the resulting form to be in on Thomas this week.

$8,000: Sam Burns ($8,300) – Sam Burns got hot and won the Match Play, so I have a feeling that some PGA DFS players will be in on him. That won’t be me. Overall, his form still lacks a ton as he’s still losing nearly a stroke per round on approach. That’s a death knell at Augusta and, with him also missing the cut in his first Masters a year ago, there’s no faith for me in an $8K range I’m a fan of.

$7,000: Bryson DeChambeau ($7,500) – Even when Bryson DeChambeau was at the peak of his Bryson-ness on the PGA Tour, Augusta National flummoxed him. It’s a shot-maker’s golf course, not an over-thinker’s course. DeChambeau is the latter even at his best, but he’s been far from that lately as his form on the LIV Golf tour has been horrendous by his standards. There is no world and no combination of lineups where you should feel confident having a part of this.

The Masters: Best DraftKings golf PGA DFS lineup

  • Rory McIlroy ($10,600)
  • Jordan Spieth ($9,700)
  • Viktor Hovland ($8,500)
  • Brooks Koepka ($7,600)
  • Bubba Watson ($6,900)
  • Danny Willett ($6,600)

There’s a good chance this lineup is chalky in some spots, particularly at the top, but I’m willing to take it on with some pivots that come with a stars-and-scrubs approach to building on DraftKings.

Getting Rory and Spieth in there is a no-brainer for me, even if the ownership number is high. Then we’ve already talked about why I’m in on Koepka and Willett, especially at the price that they’re being offered at.

Some people are going to be scared by Hovland due to his short game. But his ball striking has been so good (more than 2.3 weighted strokes gained over the last 20 rounds) and he’s worked enough in that area for me to believe he can come up with his best Masters finish. As for Bubba, well, it’s part gut feeling and part history. He’s only missed the cut once in his career at Augusta and is a two-time champion. I’m willing to bet on that in a small field that, even playing with LIV and relatively out of form, that the good feels return.
