Matt is a FanSided Contributor to our homepage European soccer coverage. He has more than 30 years of experience as a professional content creator. He began his journalism career covering UCLA men’s soccer during the Sigi Schmid era, including the 1990 National Championship. He worked as a professional sportswriter in Los Angles for the Times and Daily News. He’s been following European soccer since 2001 and has traveled extensively throughout Europe. He’s also the author of two travel books. He lives near Philadelphia, but his sixth great-grandparents were married at St. Dunstan & All Saints Church in East London, four miles from the old Upton Park.
