Todd Frazier and Kyle Seager are good 10×10 values

I realize that over the last couple of months I have largely neglected non-standard scoring leagues.  I have covered 5×5 and points leagues, but not 10×10 leagues.  So that is what we will cover for the next week.  The players who have hidden value in 10×10 leagues because of doubles, triples, holds, etc.  The things that don’t stand out in a standard league.

The standard 10×10 categories are hits, runs, average, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, walks, steals, and OPS.  For pitchers it is wins, losses, ERA, WHIP, saves, holds, strikeouts, quality starts, K/9 and complete games.

We will go position by position and find the hidden gems in 10×10 leagues.

Casey McGehee, Marlins: McGehee has been quite a find for the Marlins, but often goes unnoticed in standard leagues because he has just one home run and one steal on the season.  McGehee has value in 10×10 leagues because of his 48 RBI(fourth), 19 doubles(sixth), 35 walks(sixth), and .309 average(sixth).  Even though he doesn’t provide much power, still provides an OPS that is in the high .700’s  He is useful to you in this type of league format.

Luis Valbuena, Cubs:  His 20 doubles are tied for fourth at the position.  His 31 walks are also in the top ten.  His RBI totals will continue to suffer because he plays for the Cubs, but there are not many available players that can provide you an OPS on the north side of .800, and multi position eligibility.

Kyle Seager, Mariners: After a dreadful start to the season, Seager is on fire in June.  He has raised his average to .274 on the season, ,and has added 20 doubles, three triples, and 12 homers, all of which are in the top ten at the position.  With 26 walks and four steals and an OPS at .834, Seager is one of the few that is providing you with help in all ten categories.

Todd Frazier, Reds: After a disappointing 2013 campaign, Frazier came cheap on draft day.  If you still believed, you got a steal.  Frazier is hitting .284 with 17 homers(second at the position), 48 RBI(fourth), 28 walks (tenth), 11 steals (first), .858 OPS(fourth), 51 runs scored(fourth).  The only thing he isn’t really helping in is doubles.

Trevor Plouffe, Twins: Plouffe’s 5×5 numbers are all average or below average.  His 22 doubles are second among third basemen.  His 27 walks are also valuable, ,and the .741 OPS can help too.  He is more than a throwaway in 10×10 categories.
