College football picks against the spread primetime October 4

Louisiana-Monroe at Arkansas State(-10.5): The Red Wolves have played pretty well this year. They should be able to cover this at home.

Georgia State at Louisiana-Lafayette(-15.5): This seems high. I will take Georgia State.

(15)LSU at (5)Auburn(-7.5): I think this stays a one score game either way. I’m taking LSU. They may even win straight up!

Idaho at Texas State(-16.5): The Bobcat defense worries me, but Tyler Jones has this offense running well. I will take Texas State until I have a reason not to!

Michigan at Rutgers(-2.5): I can’t believe that this line actually opened with Michigan favored. They are lost right now. The only reason that this isn’t my lock of the night is the off chance that Michigan will rally around Hoke, but I see nothing to indicate they can. I’m taking Rutgers.

UTEP at Louisiana Tech(-12.5): Both teams have good running back and love to run the ball. I doubt it gets this out of hand. Give me UTEP.

UAB at Western Kentucky(-9.5): The Hilltoppers will score points, but they also give up a lot. Heads. Hilltoppers at home.

Toledo(-6.5) at Western Michigan: Kareem Hunt probably will not play, and QB Philip Ely is out for Toledo. That is an awful lot of playmaking ability that will be on the sideline. That said, I still like Toledo. I’m still not sure that this game will be close.

Hawaii at Rice(-6.5): The mainland is rarely kind to the Warriors. Give me Rice.

Memphis at Cincinnati(-3.5): The Tigers have played well this year, but I think this has been overadjusted. Give me Cincy.

Texas Tech at (23)Kansas State(-13.5): This looks low with quality of defense that the Wildcats play and the Red Raiders’ struggles on offense. Give me K-State.

Pittsburgh at Virginia(-4.5): This is way too low. Pitt got dominated at home by Akron last week. The Cavs aren’t capable of blowing anyone out, but this game will never be in doubt. Give me Virginia for my lock of the night!

Miami(FL) at Georgia Tech(-1.5): Miami’s run defense is much better this year despite what Ameer Abdullah did to them. The Bees don’t have anyone of Abdullah’s caliber, so I think Miami controls this game on defense and wins straight up.

Arizona State at (16)USC(-12.5): Taylor Kelly is still out for the Sun Devils, but their offense wasn’t the problem against UCLA. It was the defense, and that stays the same. Give me USC.

South Carolina(-3.5) at Kentucky: Wow, you don’t often see a correction like this. The line is down a touchdown, and probably shouldn’t be this low. I like what Kentucky has done, but taking an average Florida team to the wire and beating Vandy are nowhere near what South Carolina brings to the table. Give me SC.

Georgia Southern(-18.5) at New Mexico State: GSU runs the option as well as anyone, and the Aggies will be powerless to stop it. Give me Georgia Southern.

UNLV at San Jose State(-9.5): For under ten, I think I have to take SJSU. Nothing that they have done has impressed me, but UNLV has regressed.

(19)Nebraska at (10)Michigan State(-7.5):I don’t like the half, especially in what promises to be sloppy playing conditions. I’m going with Nebraska because of that half.

Utah at (8)UCLA(-12.5): This line is down a bit, and I see why. Utah is physical up front, and I still don’t think UCLA has a great line. Give me Utah because I would be more surprised if UCLA covered than if Utah won outright.

Boise State(-3.5) at Nevada: I don’t buy it. Boise was exposed last week, and Nevada is good enough to force them into mistakes. I’m going with the Wolfpack straight up at home.

California at Washington State(-3.5): The Cougar defense has been impressive over the last two weeks, and Cal’s pass defense has been awful. Give me the Leaches!
