DraftKings NBA Picks for February 2

There are only four games for the main DraftKings tournament tonight. Who can set our lineup apart from the pack tonight? Let’s see who the best plays are!

Don’t forget to follow @fantasycpr on Twitter for lineup updates as we get them leading to the tipoffs of the games! I am not always able to get back in here and fix my picks when someone sits for the night, but we will update it on Twitter.

Most of my picks end up being a little on the conservative side, so these lineups may be better suited for cash games, though I usually play both types.

Point Guards

Best Bets:

John Wall ($10,400): Wall will still be highly owned because there aren’t a lot of high level options tonight, but he has only hit 5x value twice in last six games, and four times in the last ten. His price is above his normal output range. This is the top of his scale, even against the Lakers. 6x value is not an option at this price. 5x is possible, but not a guarantee. That said, you can count on one hand how many players are capable of putting up 50 DraftKings points tonight. Wall is one of them.

Stephen Curry ($8,700): Curry has abused the Clippers so far this year. He torched them for 66.75 DraftKings points in just 29 minutes last Saturday. Don’t be surprised if he gives them the same treatment tonight since they are still without Chris Paul.

Honorable Mention:

Dennis Schroder ($6,400): Schroder is by no means a sure thing, but he did pretty well in the first meeting with Houston this season. He put up 38.25 DraftKings points in that one. Schroder has been over 6x value in six of the last eight games. The bad news is that he was under 4x value in the other two.

D’Angelo Russell ($5,700): Russell racked up 51.25 DraftKings points in his return against Denver on Tuesday night. I think it’s safe to say he’s not on a minutes limit. He wont go off like that against Washington, but 5x value is likely.

T.J. McConnell ($5,600): Sergio who? Since McConnell took over the starting point guard role, he has averaged 30.5 DraftKings points per game. He has been over 30 in five of the last six games. The Spurs have done better against the point lately, but McConnell’s price is still low enough that he should hit 5x value.

Dark Horses:

Patrick Beverley ($5,000): Goran Dragic was the most recent opposing point guard to run circles around the Hawks this year. Beverley isn’t know for his offense, but he should find plenty of holes here to hit his value.

Raymond Felton ($4,900): It was Felton, not Austin Rivers, that shouldered much of the load against the Warriors on Saturday. Felton picked up 27.75 DraftKings points in that game. That was the sixth time in seven games that he topped 20 with Chris Paul out. Felton is getting good run right now, and is a good source of value, but he isn’t going to put up big numbers.

My pick: Curry(PG), Schroder(G); Curry(PG), McConnell(G), Felton(UTIL)

DraftKings
Jan 16, 2017; Washington, DC, USA; Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal (3) dunks the ball as Wizards guard John Wall (2) and Portland Trail Blazers forward Meyers Leonard (11) look on in the fourth quarter at Verizon Center. Shooting Guards

Best Bets:

Bradley Beal ($7,000): Beal hasn’t been the most consistent contributor on the board this year, but he has done better lately. Beal has at least 5x value in five of the last seven games. The Lakers aren’t exactly a great defensive team, so Beal should have plenty of looks tonight. I like him to keep his hot shooting going.

Kent Bazemore ($5,300): Bazemore has averaged 30 DraftKings points per game over his last six games. In the first meeting against the Rockets this year, he racked up 37.5 DraftKings points. Most of the minutes that were available after the trade of Kyle Korver have come the way of Bazemore lately, and he is making the most of them.

Honorable Mention:

James Harden ($12,400): Harden is a threat to go off in any given game. He put up 63.25 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Atlanta, but he has struggled mightily over the last two games in what should have been good matchups against Sacramento and Indiana. At this price, he is a risk, but you know if he rights the ship, he is getting a lot of points.

Lou Williams ($5,700): Williams is pretty much a scorer and nothing else, but he has been doing a lot of scoring lately. He has averaged 39.8 DraftKings points per game over the last three games. Washington is a little tougher matcup for him on the outside, but he held his own in that stretch against a tough perimeter defense in Utah. LouWill could be a way to set your lineup apart, but there is risk involved because of the opponent.

Dark Horses:

Tim Hardaway Jr. ($4,200): Hardaway’s value dries up if Thabo Sefalosha is able to return to the court tonight in any capacity. Bazemore has proven he will stay ahead of Hardaway in the pecking order, so if Sefalosha is back, I wouldn’t take the chance. However, if Hardaway starts again, he is a sure bet for 5x value. He has averaged 26.3 DraftKings points per game in the four games Sefalosha has missed.

Gerald Henderson ($3,600): Henderson could see an uptick in minutes if Robert Covington is sidelined again tonight. Henderson has topped 25 DraftKings points in three of the last five games, and has gone over 20 in all but the one that he only played nine minutes in because of injury. Keep an eye on Covington’s status, but Henderson could be worth using anyway.

My pick: Bazemore(SG); Beal(SG)

DraftKings
December 22, 2016; Los Angeles, CA, USA; San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard (2) moves in to dunk against the Los Angeles Clippers during the second half at Staples Center. Mandatory Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports /

Small Forwards

Best Bets:

Kawhi Leonard ($9,000): If Covington plays, it takes a bit of luster off of Leonard, but not much.  Leonard has averaged 49.3 DraftKings points per game over his last nine games, and that includes what now counts as his subpar performance of 39.25 against the Mavs on Sunday. Kawhi has taken his game to another level, so even a matchup with Philadelphia isn’t a deterrent right now.

Markieff Morris ($6,800): Kieff has been a staple in my lineups recently, and with good reason. Morris has averaged 38.6 DraftKings points per game over his last ten games. He is almost always at 5x value recently, and could receive an even bigger boost tonight if Randle sits again.

Honorable Mention:

Trevor Ariza ($5,100): His price has finally dropped to the point where I may feel comfortable using Ariza again. He has struggled recently, only reaching 5x value three times in the last ten games. He did manage 24.75 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Atlanta, so he at least has a puncher’s chance tonight.

Dark Horses:

Dario Saric ($4,300): The only way I would take this shot is if Covington sits again. Saric has 57 DraftKings points over the last two games, but he hasn’t had to tangle with Kawhi Leonard in those games. He only needs 21.5 DraftKings points for 5x value, but I doubt he gets anywhere close to that if he doesn’t start the game.

Andre Iguodala ($4,000): If you look at the winning lineups, you will notice Iggy in many of them.  He has over 5x value in all but one January game. That is unheard of at this price level. Even in blowouts, Iggy gets his 25-32 minutes. He has little upside, but if he is scoring in the 20’s every game at this price, are you really going to complain?

My Pick: Morris(SF); Leonard(SF)

DraftKings
Jan 31, 2017; San Antonio, TX, USA; San Antonio Spurs power forward LaMarcus Aldridge (12) shoots the ball as Oklahoma City Thunder power forward Domantas Sabonis (3) defends during the first half at AT&T Center. Mandatory Credit: Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports /

Power Forwards

Best Bets:

Paul Millsap ($7,800): Millsap is hard to roster right now. He played an incredible 60 minutes against the Knicks on Sunday, racking up 76.75 DraftKings points. However, he sandwiched that monster with a pair of sub-20 efforts. No, not sub 20 points. Sub 20 DraftKings points! It is hard to overlook that fact, but if you do, Millsap torched the Rockets for 56.75 DraftKings points in the first meeting.

LaMarcus Aldridge ($6,700): So, I don’t trust Blake Griffin against the Warriors. He has stunk up the joint against them this season. I also don’t trust Draymond Green, who has only hit 5x value  once in his last five games. Aldridge has averaged 37.3 DraftKings points in six games with Pau Gasol out, only falling below 30 once. He has been a much more stable piece than anyone in front of him at the position tonight.

Honorable Mention:

Ersan Ilyasova ($5,800): Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor cannibalize each other’s value. Neither has much of an impact last night against Dallas. San Antonio is admittedly a little less stout in the middle with Gasol out, but Ilyasova has been playing more minutes and has a better chance of hitting value.

Ryan Anderson ($5,200): Anderson has been the biggest beneficiary of James Harden’s slump. He has 89.5 DraftKings points over the last two games (which is more than Harden, by the way). Anderson is hitting a lot of shots right now, and if Harden stays cold, he could have another big game. However, Anderson hit only four of 13 shots for 16.75 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Atlanta. There is risk involved.

Dark Horse:

Davis Bertans ($3,100): Bertans has seen between 18 and 25 minutes off the bench with Gasol out, and has posted at least 5x value in all but one game. He is a consistent source of 5x value, and one of the safer options if you are looking to spend big elsewhere.

My pick: Aldridge(PF), Anderson(F); Millsap(PF), Bertans(F)

DraftKings
Jan 10, 2017; Brooklyn, NY, USA; Atlanta Hawks center Dwight Howard (8) reacts to fans during second half against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. The Hawks won 117-97. Mandatory Credit: Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports /

Center

Best Bets:

Dwight Howard ($6,900): Howard started strong last night, but quickly became one of the biggest busts of the evening. So why does he top the list tonight? Well, I don’t trust DeAndre Jordan against the Warriors. He doesn’t even have 50 DraftKings points over the two games combined against them. Joel Embiid is still out, and Draymond Green has struggled lately. That leaves Howard who is playing a former team. One that he put up 49.25 DraftKings points on in the first meeting. He looks like a strong bet tonight. Let’s hope he plays with a purpose.

More from FanSided

Marcin Gortat ($6,000): Gortat has played three straight games against teams in the bottom ten in defense against centers. He averaged 38.8 DraftKings points per game over those three games. Tonight is his fourth straight against bottom ten teams. You can see where this is going.

Honorable Mention:

Clint Capela ($4,700): Capela’s price is low enough that it mitigates a lot of the risk here. He has averaged 26 DraftKings points per game over the last seven games since his minutes got back to around his 22 per game mark before the injury. This is a tough matchup on paper, but Capela will play most of his minutes against Mike Muscala. He put up 26 DraftKings points on the Hawks in the first meeting. He should be able to do it again.

Jahlil Okafor ($4,400): Early word out of Sixers camp is that Okafor will start again. He out-performed Noel last night, so he is much less of a risk at this price, but only if he starts. Besides, what are the chances that he gets held to one rebound again? Especially with Gasol out.

Dark Horses:

Ivica Zubac ($3,900): There is a rookie tearing it up for the Lakers lately, and it is not the second overall pick, Brandon Ingram. It is Zubac, who has averaged 30 DraftKings points and 25 minutes over the last three games. There is no reason for the Lakers to play him less, so look for another spectacular game compared to his price point for Zubac.

Timofey Mozgov ($3,100): You would think the emergence of Zubac would have an adverse affect on Mozgov. Instead, it has lit a fire under the veteran. Mozgov has topped 25 DraftKings points in each of the last two games. He carries more risk since Zubac is playing more, but you can’t deny that he is doing more with less.

My pick: Howard(C), Zubac(UTIL); Zubac(C)
