DraftKings MLB Picks For June 6

We have a full 15 game slate tonight for the first time in a while. We also have a few aces taking the mound. Which ones look like the best bets? Who has surprisingly bad past stats? Where can we stack if we don’t want to pay up for Coors Field or the Astros? Let’s dive right in!

More from DFS

The money line last night was down a bit to 108.55. My Astros stack lineup cracked the top 1000. The other had the better pitching, but moving to the Reds/Cards because of fear of rain in Atlanta proved to be a bad decision.

The winning lineup was also down a bit to 201.3 DraftKings points. He had the big pitching game of the night with Jeff Samardzija, and had huge games from Ryon Healy, Odubel Herrera, and Aaron Altherr to take it down.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

DraftKings
May 21, 2017; Chicago, IL, USA; Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo (44) hits a two-run homer against the Milwaukee Brewers during the eighth inning at Wrigley Field. Mandatory Credit: David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

P: Robbie Ray ($11,900): The Padres offense has been better lately, but the fact remains that they are still just 10-51(.196) against Ray with only one homer and three runs with 12 strikeouts. Ray has struggled at home this year, but his career numbers against the Padres have me using him here. Yes, even over Max Scherzer. Scherzer has a 3.98 career ERA in five starts at Dodger Stadium with “only” 30 strikeouts in 31.2 innings pitched. I don’t think Scherzer lives up to his price tonight, and many will pass on Ray due to his 6.75 home ERA. He should put a big dent in that tonight against the Padres.

P: Hector Santiago ($5,500): This is another one of those cases where you are just going to have to hear me out. Santiago was blasted by the Astros in his last start, but who hasn’t been? I also realize that he has a 5.23 road ERA, but let’s look a bit closer. The Mariners are hitting just .194 against him in 98 at bats with three homers (all by Nelson Cruz) and eight runs to go with 16 strikeouts. Not great numbers, but they are for this price! Santiago also owns a 2.22 ERA in 24.1 innings at Safeco Field in his career. His price has been adjusted too far down against a Mariners team that is merely average against left handed pitching.

C: Brian McCann ($3,200): Jake Junis was serviceable in his first start, giving up two runs in 4.2 innings to the Twins. That said, it was the Twins. The Astros are the highest scoring team in the league. McCann had a big night last night. He could have another one tonight as well.

1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,500): Despite Jeff Locke pitching from the left side, Anthony Rizzo has destroyed him. Rizzo is 10-26(.385) with three walks, three doubles, four homers, seven runs scored, and nine RBI in his career against Locke. I may change my small Cubs stack if the wind is blowing in again, but the Cubs look to be a great option tonight.

2B: Jonathan Villar ($3,800): Villar is one of only two Brewers that has faced Matt Cain so far. He is 2-3 with a run scored on Cain. Cain has a dreadful 8.28 ERA in five road starts this season. The Brewers may be slumping a little right now, but stacking them could be a lucrative proposal tonight.

3B: Kris Bryant ($4,600): Bryant is 4-13 with four walks, a homer, three runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Jeff Locke. Locke is off to a great start this season, but keep in mind that he has a 8.42 ERA in six career games at Wrigley Field. History says this could be a short outing for Locke.

SS: Addison Russell ($3,200): Russell is 4-15(.267) with two doubles, a homer, three runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Locke. Russell is also priced low enough that he could be one of the best performers of the night. Given Locke’s history at Wrigley in general and against Russell in particular, his salary seems far too low.

OF: Michael Conforto ($5,100): Former teammate Dillon Gee is taking the mound in Texas against the Mets tonight. Gee has been terrific in relief so far this year, but he still has a 4.09 career ERA. Conforto is leading off for a team that is a sneaky choice to plate a half dozen tonight on a hot night in Arlington. I want him in my lineup!

OF: Josh Reddick ($4,200): Reddick is another power bat from the left side. Astros are still very expensive, but my Astros stack did very well last night. I may make one for tonight as well once lineups are released. Keep an eye out for that on Twitter!

OF: Matt Adams ($4,000): Adams is 0-3 in his career against Aaron Nola, but he has never had the privilege of facing Nola at SunTrust Park. Adams has slugged three homers in just 28 home at bats this season with a .321 average. His price is rising, but he will more than likely be worth it tonight.

DraftKings
May 16, 2017; Detroit, MI, USA; Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis (19) hits an RBI double in the third inning against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Mandatory Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

P: Chris Archer ($10,600): There are a few high priced pitchers tonight, but Archer may be the safest. I touched on Scherzer’s struggles earlier, and I really don’t trust Jacob deGrom that much in Texas. Enter Archer, who has held the White Sox to a .235 average with two homers and six runs with 12 strikeouts in 68 at bats. The Chicago offense has struggled for most of the season, and Tropicana Field is still mostly a pitcher’s park. Archer has a 3.19 home ERA in his career.

More from FanSided

P: Jaime Garcia ($7,300): Garcia has held the Phillies to a pathetic .163 average in 43 at bats with just three runs scored and ten strikeouts. Garcia wont wow anyone with strikeouts, but the Phillies aren’t exactly an offensive juggernaut. They hung a snowman on Bartolo Colon last night, but Garcia is about ten years younger and has an ERA that is roughly a third of what Colon’s is. He will also hold the platoon advantage over a red-hot Odubel Herrera. That can’t hurt. And before you go worrying about his new home park, Garcia has a 1.88 ERA there in his two starts. The park is not nearly as forgiving for right handed hitters.

C: Gary Sanchez ($4,700): I like the upside of Drew Pomeranz. I really do. Just not at Yankee Stadium. I know, I know, he has only given up one run there in nine innings pitched, but this Yankee lineup has a lot of pop from the right side as well. That starts with Sanchez, who is 2-4 with a solo homer against Pomeranz. The current Bombers have slugged four homers against Pomeranz despite only hitting .216.

1B: Chris Davis ($4,400): Chris Davis was not kind to Ivan Nova when he was with the Yankees. Davis is 9-32(.281) with three walks, two doubles, three homes, five runs scored, and an impressive ten RBI against him. Nova has a 5.44 career ERA at Camden Yards in seven starts. I would stay away from him tonight.

2B: Dee Gordon ($3,900): Gordon has never faced Jake Arrieta before, but I’m having trouble trusting Arrieta this year. He still has a bloated 4.60 ERA, even though it is a respectable 3.06 at home. Gordon is a handful when on the bases. He has a great chance to get on once or twice tonight.

3B: Jedd Gyorko ($4,000): Gyorko is 2-7 with a walk, a homer, and two RBI in his career against Tim Adleman so far. Adleman has a 4.89 ERA on the season, so he has been knocked around some. It doesn’t matter where His home and road ERA are just 0.04 runs apart. A Cardinals stack may not be a bad idea tonight if you are building a stack lineup.

SS: J.J. Hardy ($2,500): Hardy looks like a great punt play against Nova considering he is 11-39(.282) with four walks, two doubles, a homer, six runs scored, and three RBI off of him in his career. Now, Nova looks like a much better pitcher in the National League. Will the return to this park haunt him tonight?

OF: Dexter Fowler ($4,900): Fowler is expensive, but he may be worth it. He is 3-8 with a walk, a homer, a steal, and two RBI already against Tim Adleman. We all know how much of a hitter’s park Great American Ballpark is. Fowler himself owns a .305 career batting average there in 95 at bats with a homer, eight RBI, and five steals. He looks like a nice play tonight.

OF: Mark Trumbo ($4,600): I bet that Ivan Nova still has nightmares about Mark Trumbo. Trumbo was 10-21(.476) with two walks, a double, three homers, five runs scored, and five RBI against Nova while he was a member of the Yankees. Baltimore is more of a hitter’s park, so I don’t really trust Nova tonight.

OF: Nick Markakis ($3,100): Markakis is 3-11 with two walks, two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Aaron Nola. Markakis isn’t known for his power, but given his history against Nola, and SunTrust Park’s huge boost to left-handed power, Markakis is one of my favorites in this price range.
