DraftKings MLB Picks For June 9

We have 14 games in the main DraftKings tournament tonight with the only game missing being the Wrigley matinee between the Cubs and Rockies. We have a couple of aces in seemingly good matchups. Where can we go cheap to afford them? Let’s take a look!

More from DFS

The money line last night was up a bit to 111.5 points. My lineup with Lance McCullers and Jake Odorizzi easily made it into the money because of Gary Sanchez. However, a truly great score was missed because the other eight hitters combined for two less points than Sanchez’s 38. The other was torpedoed by Derek Holland.

The winning lineup was also up just a bit to 202.45. He took the chance on Joe Ross, and it paid off big time. He also stacked the Rays-White Sox game with two Yankees to take down the tournament.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

Apr 3, 2017; Arlington, TX, USA; Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber (28) in action during the game against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The Indians defeat the Rangers 8-5. Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Corey Kluber ($12,600): Kluber didn’t miss a beat in his first start off the DL on June 1st. He dominated Oakland in his return, and gets a similarly inept offense in the White Sox tonight, who were baffled by Jake Odorizzi last night. Don’t get me wrong, Odorizzi is a solid pitcher, but Kluber has won a Cy Young award. He has held the White Sox to three homers (all by Jose Abreu) and ten runs in 139 at bats despite a solid .259 average. Kluber also has 40 strikeouts in that span. He has by far the best strikeout potential on this slate tonight, so I’m paying up for it.

P: Jhoulys Chacin ($6,400): If you have read this page with any regularity, you know all about Chacin’s staggering home/road splits. He has a horrid 10.27 ERA in seven road starts compared with a 1.36 home ERA in five starts. That is after he gave up four runs at home to the Rockies his last time out. The Royals offense is pretty bad no matter what field you put them on. Chacin will be well worth the price tonight.

C: Caleb Joseph ($2,500): Joseph is getting regular playing time against with Welington Castillo back on the DL. Joseph has a double in two at bats against Jordan Montgomery, and Yankee Stadium has a hard time holding balls in its confines. He is a cheap option with solid power at a hitter’s park. I need to go cheap somewhere to pay for Kluber, and this looks like the spot to do it!

1B: Lucas Duda ($4,500): Duda! Have you seen Julio Teheran‘s stats against lefties? He has allowed nine homers to lefties in 137 at bats already. With SunTrust Park as his new home, this split will be magnified even more because of how lefties are hitting it out of there. Duda is 7-25(.280) with five walks, two doubles, two homers, five runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Teheran. Most of that came before the splits against lefties started getting really bad over the last year or so.

2B: Jose Ramirez ($4,200): This is all that remains of my Indians stack against Miguel Gonzalez. I finally decided that the Mets offered more bang for my buck, but I couldn’t back off of Ramirez. He is 3-7 with a double, a homer, three runs scored, and three RBI against Gonzalez already. If you are looking for cheap exposure to this game, Austin Jackson and Lonnie Chisenhall both have great past stats against Gonzalez. However, Chisenhall is no longer eligible at 3B, and the outfield is loaded with great options.

3B: Ryon Healy ($4,400): Healy has two two-homer games in his last five tries. Now, Alex Cobb is  a Jekyll and Hyde type pitcher who is capable of throwing a real gem, but the opposite is also true. A Seattle offense that has been largely dominated by any team not wearing a Twins uniform lit him up his last time out. Healy has a chance to start this fire.

SS: Kike Hernandez ($3,300): Hernandez is mostly known for his monumental success against Giants ace Madison Bumgarner, but what do you do when MadBum wont be back for another month or two? Well, you just hit other lefties. Hernandez has three homers in 52 at bats against lefties this year, and has 12 of his 21 career homers against lefties in his career. Tonight he gets a lefty that has surrendered nine homers in his last 11.2 innings pitched. I’m making room for Kike tonight.

OF: Michael Conforto ($4,900): Conforto is 3-9 with a homer and three RBI in his career against Julio Teheran. He is also batting leadoff for a team that can score a lot of runs tonight against the struggling Teheran. Sign me up!

OF: Jay Bruce ($4,700): Bruce is only 5-25 against Teheran, but when he has hit him, it has been hard. Bruce has four walks, a double, two homers, three runs scored, and five RBI against him. Curtis Granderson has also homered twice against Teheran if you are looking for another left handed bat in a Mets uniform.

OF: Eric Young Jr. ($2,500): Young has averaged eight DraftKings points per game since taking over in center with the injury to Mike Trout. he still has great speed and is a solid hitter. For this price, he is well worth taking a shot on.

May 30, 2017; Chicago, IL, USA; Boston Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts (50) celebrates his home run in the dugout in the second inning against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. Mandatory Credit: Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Brad Peacock ($7,900): You know that you are living dangerously when Peacock is the ace of your lineup, but the Angels were one of the worst offensive teams in baseball even with the best player in the (American?) League in Mike Trout. Without him, they have been forced to use the likes of Luis Valbuena and Yunel Escobar in the cleanup slot. The Angels are only hitting .213 against Peacock in 47 at bats with four runs scored and 11 strikeouts. Peacock also went six innings in his last start, meaning that he is stretched out enough to be allowed to go deeper into games. Peacock already has a staggering 47 strikeouts in just 31.1 innings pitched. He is a sneaky good play tonight against the Angels.

More from FanSided

P: Andrew Triggs ($5,700): You can put this little tidbit right up there with the UFO phenomena. Triggs somehow has a 5.16 ERA at home, one of the best pitcher’s parks in the league, and a 0.72 ERA on the road. He draws one of the more friendly road venues tonight in Tampa. The Rays do have a copule of good lefty bats in the lineup, but they also strike out a lot. Triggs looks like a nice cheap option tonight.

C: Austin Hedges ($3,800): Hedges has slugged 11 homers already this year, and usually hits fifth against left handed pitchers. Eric Skoglund has been solid in his first couple of starts, and likely will be again at Petco Park, but right handed power bats such as Hedges, Hunter Renfroe, and Yangervis Solarte are in play for cheaper options tonight.

1B: Hanley Ramirez ($4,200): Ramirez is 10-26(.385) with two walks, two doubles, a homer, four runs scored, and six RBI in his career against Jordan Zimmerman. He has even stolen two bases! Hanley is much more of a power threat these days, but Zimmerman has allowed plenty of homers this year. Balls should by flying out of Fenway tonight, mostly in the bottom of innings.

2B: Jose Altuve ($5,300): Altuve has punished Matt Shoemaker to far. He is one of the few to do so, it seems. Altuve is 10-26(.385) with two walks, a double, three homers, four runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Shoemaker. Shoemaker is off to kind of a slow start this year. Facing this offense in a hitter friendly park could result in some unsightly numbers for Shoemaker.

3B: Anthony Rendon ($4,700): It may be a good idea to stack Nationals against Andrew Cashner. They are hitting .348 off of him in 66 career at bats. Rendon is 4-10 with a walk, a solo homer, and four runs scored in his career against Cashner. I want a large portion of the middle of this lineup tonight!

SS: Trea Turner ($5,200): Turner had a big game last night, and there doesn’t seem to be much stopping him from doing the same tonight. He is leading off of a potent lineup that has raked against Cashner. Turner himself is 2-2 with a triple, two steals, a walk, and a RBI against Cashner. As we saw last night, steals can rack up DraftKings points in a hurry!

OF: Mookie Betts ($4,200): Betts is a great bargain as long as his price is this low. I’m not sure why it is. Jordan Zimmerman has a woeful 5.98 ERA on the season, and it balloons to 7.07 on the road. Put him in a hitter’s park like Fenway, and this is a recipe for another disastrous start for Zimmerman. Betts will get first crack at him, and he is perfect against Zimmerman in three at bats. Betts has a walk, a single, a homer, two runs scored, two steals, and four RBI off of him already!

OF: Andrew Benintendi ($4,700): There is a great chance that Benintendi will be hitting second for Boston tonight. One more thing I forgot to mention regarding Zimmerman is that he has allowed a whopping 16 home runs already this year! 16! Fenway is a launching pad anyway! Nine of those have come in just 28 road innings. I expect great things from this Boston offense tonight.

OF: Matt Adams ($4,200): It was honestly down to Adams or Matt Kemp here. Kemp has hit three homers against Matt Harvey in only 14 at bats, but I ultimately decided to go with Adams because of SunTrust Park’s friendliness to left handed hitters. Those are Kemp’s only three hits off of Harvey, by the way. Adams is 1-3 with a single against Harvey, but I think he has a better chance of reaching base tonight.
