DraftKings MLB Picks For June 12

We have 14 games in the main DraftKings tournament tonight with the only game missing being the Wrigley matinee between the Cubs and Rockies. We have a couple of aces in seemingly good matchups. Where can we go cheap to afford them? Let’s take a look!

More from DFS

The money line last night was all the way up to 129.35 even on an abbreviated slate. My Giants stack with Robbie Ray made it well into the money. The other had a solid 105.9 points, but fell short due to a poor outing by James Paxton.

The winning lineup was all the way up to 244.9. He found a way to pay up for Max Scherzer with Ray, and hit it big on a Giants/Padres stack to take down the tournament.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

May 30, 2017; San Diego, CA, USA; Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (17) smiles before the game against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Mandatory Credit: Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Stephen Strasburg ($12,700): Strasburg has actually not pitched all that well in his career against the Braves. They are hitting .259 in 108 at bats with two homers and 11 RBI. However, Strasburg still has 31 strikeouts. As good as Strasburg has been this season, I trust him against the Braves, especially without Freddie Freeman. The Braves are merely average against Strasburg without him.

P: Alex Meyer ($6,400): The Yankee offense is much like the Rockies. They lose a lot of punch when they go on the road. There is a pretty big risk involved here considering Meyer’s 4.08 ERA, but his home ERA is 2.25. Meyer has been brilliant at home this year. I am not naive enough to believe that he will shut out the Yankees, but Meyer should be able to turn in a quality start. And he is facing off against Masahiro Tanaka, who has really struggled lately. There is value here.

C: Mike Zunino ($3,900): Zunino hit a two run homer and walked in his three at bats against Adalberto Mejia in Seattle last week. Until Zunino cools off, he is a must-play against left handed pitching. Don’t worry about the pitcher’s park. Zunino could have hit a ball out of old Municipal Stadium in Cleveland before Bill Veeck’s ill-fated movable fences.

1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,600): Lost in the numbers that Jacob deGrom has posted so far in his career is this little nugget: deGrom has a 7.20 ERA in two career starts at Wrigley Field. Rizzo is 3-11 with a homer and two RBI off of deGrom. I would stay away from the Mets ace again tonight. He could be in line for another subpar game.

2B: Yangervis Solarte ($3,700): Solarte is batting cleanup against Bronson Arroyo. Yes, that Bronson Arroyo. He of the 6.25 ERA and 7.50 road ERA. Do I need another reason?

3B: Kris Bryant ($4,500): Jacob deGrom got lit up by the Rangers his last time out. It could happen against tonight against the Cubs. They have hit .277 off of deGrom so far, and Bryant is a big part of that. Bryant is 2-3 with two walks, to homers, and three RBI agianst deGrom.

SS: Tim Anderson ($3,600): Tim Anderson doesn’t have much of a history against Wade Miley, but he has three singles in four at bats off of him, and will bat leadoff for a team that could score some runs. Again, I have a hard time trusting this offense, so I will take the leadoff hitter and the runs scored that come with it.

OF: Nomar Mazara ($4,300): Mazara is 5-11 with two homers, three runs scored, and five RBI against Joe Musgrove already. It helps that Mazara has come alive at the plate recently. He is now safe to use in DFS formats again after a slow start.

OF: Curtis Granderson ($3,700): Granderson is only 10-41(.244) against John Lackey, but he has five walks, two doubles, two triples, a homer, nine runs scored, four steals, and a pair of RBI. That is a whole lot of crooked numbers! Granderson no longer leads off, but he has enough power to produce in the middle of this lineup.

OF: Franchy Cordero ($2,400): Cordero has been leading off against right handers at the expense of Allen Cordoba. Having the leadoff hitter for an offense teeing off on Bronson Arroyo, especially for this price, feels like stealing.

Jun 7, 2017; Denver, CO, USA; Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland (31) delivers a pitch in the first inning against the Cleveland Indians at Coors Field. Mandatory Credit: Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Rick Porcello ($8,600): Porcello barely resembles the pitcher that won the Cy Young Award last season with hit 4.46 ERA and staggering 14 homers allowed in 13 starts. I am going to throw that out the window tonight against the Phillies. The Phillies are essentially an offensive black hole. Porcello has held the Phillies to a .250 average in 60 at bats, but they two have ten RBI to go with the 18 strikeouts. Howie Kendrick has nine of those. If he can stay away from Kendrick, Porcello could have a pretty good outing.

More from FanSided

P:  Kyle Freeland ($8,100): Freeland has been very good at home and on the road as a rookie. He wont rack up strikeouts, but he gets a huge park upgrade going to PNC Park. His 3.18 road ERA could get even better tonight against a Pirates team that still has problems generating runs.

C:  Jason Castro ($3,500): Castro is 8-24 with four walks, two doubles, a solo homer, and three RBI in his career against Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo has an awful 6.26 ERA, and somehow has a 7.54 ERA at home. The Twins offense is good enough for him to keep that awful number intact.

1B: Mitch Moreland ($4,500): Mitch Moreland has never faced Jerad Eickhoff before, but he has had a good first couple months in Boston. Moreland is a safe bet tonight, and other Boston players could be as well.

2B: Brian Dozier ($4,300): Dozier is starting to come around after a miserable start. He has homered twice and driven in five over the last six games. He is also 6-15 with a walk, four runs scored, and five RBI against Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo’s struggles this year are no secret. It may not get any better for him tonight.

3B: Miguel Sano ($4,600): Sano has only faced Gallardo seven times in his career, but he has walked four times and and hit a three run homer off of him. Sano may even be underpriced tonight.

SS: Andrelton Simmons ($3,900): I still don’t really trust the Angels enough to employ a full stack against Masahiro Tanaka, but I want something there just in case the Angels do get to him.

OF: George Springer ($4,900): The Astros as a whole have not hit Yu Darvish well, but Springer sure has. He is 6-15 with two homers and three RBI in his career against Darvish. I don’t know that I would trust any other Astros for their price, but I am comfortable with Springer.

OF: Seth Smith ($3,800): How is Smith this cheap against Mike Pelfrey? I get that Pelfrey has a solid 3.80 ERA, but Smith is 9-20 with four walks, two doubles, a triple, a homer, five runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Pelfrey. And he is still leading off for a pretty good offense. Smith feels like quite a bargain tonight.

OF: Mark Trumbo ($3,700): Trumbo holds a lot of value as well. He is 5-12 with two walks and a solo homer in his career against Pelfrey. Trumbo is hitting a respectable .261, but some fantasy players are concerned with his lack of power with just eight homers so far. I’m here to tell you not to panic. If he is hitting for an average that is above his career mark, he will be fine.
