Richard LeCounte sends out reassuring tweet after motorcycle accident

The Georgia Bulldogs defensive back reveals that he’s doing fine after getting in motorcycle accident this weekend.

After their 14-3 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs received the terrifying news that safety Richard LeCounte was involved in a motorcycle accident in Athens, Ga. after the game. It was a scary accident, but Bulldogs fans received some great news from the man himself.

On Monday, a day after being moved to a regular hospital room, LeCounte tweeted out that “all is well” with him, allowing Bulldogs fans to breathe a huge sigh of relief.

LeCounte suffered non-life threatening injuries

On Saturday evening, the Bulldogs safety was driving on the Macon Highway. A driver didn’t see LeCounte coming and attempted to make a left turn. That caused LeCounte to slam the brakes and to make contact with the car, where he was then sent into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle.

LeCounte was diagnosed with a concussion, a bruised shoulder and bruised ribs, all of which won’t require surgery. The safety avoided serious injury, and it’s unknown how much time he’ll be sidelined for. The expectation is that he won’t be suited up for next weekend’s game against the rival Florida Gators.

Prior to the accident, LeCounte managed to record 13 tackles, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery against the Wildcats in their defensive battle. This season, LeCounte recorded 26 total tackles, four passes defensed and a team-high three interceptions.

While LeCounte won’t be on the field for the big game, that’s not the priority right now. His health takes top precedence over all else and luckily, he’s going to be okay.
