There were concerns that when Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta went down with injury last season, he may never play football again.

Thankfully Pitta was able to recover from the very significant injury (which was said to include nerve damage) though the veteran went down untouched on Sunday and it’s believed to be the same problematic hip that has ended his day.

Pitta was completely untouched when he fell to the turf and was is obvious pain. It was clear something was not right and the team immediately called for the cart which quickly took Dennis Pitta off the field. Evan Silva confirmed it’s the same hip that ended Pitta’s season last year.

The Baltimore Ravens tight end swung out on a pass in the backfield and simply couldn’t get up. As to the seriousness of the injury, that currently is not known. Obviously given Dennis Pitta fractured and dislocated the same hip last year, there’s reason to be concerned though suggesting the injury is related would be premature.

Hopefully it’s nothing more than a minor setback and we’ll see Dennis Pitta back on the field for the Baltimore Ravens soon. However, judging by his reaction the injury did seem to warrant heavy concern.

Pitta had three catches for 12 yards before departing.
