The odds and prediction for the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl!
Bowl season is in full swing, with roughly a quarter of the games done. That still leaves me more than 30 picks to try and stay above .500. It could be a challenge with the way this bowl season has started!

In case you missed how the point scale works, here is a brief rundown:
5. A lock. I am comfortable making a sizable wager on this game.
4. Very confident. Not quite a lock, but I am comfortable making a decent sized wager on it.
3. Middle of the road. Good enough that I would make a small wager on it.
2. Could go either way. So much so that I wouldn’t bet on it.
1. Stay away from these.
Take note that any games that involve 1-AA teams will NOT be picked. That means I will be staying away from the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl. I haven’t paid much attention to FCS schools this year. It wont do anyone any good for me to make only a slightly educated guess on the game.
Just in case you missed any:
- Gildan New Mexico Bowl
- Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl
- Raycom Media Camellia Bowl
- Autonation Cure Bowl
- R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
- Miami Beach Bowl
- Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
- Marmot Boca Raton Bowl

Boise looked great at times this year (against Virginia, for example), and they also looked horrible. Just look at the game against Utah State. the emergence of true freshman quarterback Brett Rypien and running back Jeremy McNichols landed them in a bowl game, but this defense has had some issues.
You can say the same thing for Northern Illinois. Both teams have had to deal with losing their starting quarterback in the middle of the season, but Boise rebounded better. The Huskies gave Ohio State all they could handle with Drew Hare under center, but this offense hasn’t been nearly as explosive with Ryan Graham under center. All signs point to Graham playing in this game after he missed the MAC Championship game. That will help the Huskies.
Boise’s run defense bordered on dominant the entire season. The Huskies have had some trouble moving the ball with Graham under center, and if Joel Bouagnon is mostly a non-factor, Boise could win big. In a game like this, you have to go with the best player on the field, and by a large margin, it is McNichols.
My pick: Boise State
