Jimmie Johnson conquered “The Monster Mile” as he won the FedEx 400 at Dover for an incredible 10th time.

It was an unusually clean day of racing at Dover on Sunday.

It was a day for lead changes and random occurrences as Jimmie Johnson pulled away with a win at the monster mile.

At the end of the race, Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson had yet another battle as both drivers were in the No. 1 and No. 2 position. However, a few cautions would cause some restarts and Johnson would maintain his spot at No. 1 and hold on for his 10th win at Dover and his fourth of the season.

However, it wasn’t without its obstacles for Johnson as multiple wrecks at the end required him to hold off several other drivers on the track. He worked his way up from 14th to start and ended up putting on another classic performance.

For Joe Gibbs Racing, heading into the race, it looked like it was going to be another day of dominance on the track. However all four drivers had bad luck strike in some form or another. Carl Edwards had a wrench stuck in his car, Matt Kenseth had suspension problems and Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin were each involved in wrecks of their own.

However at the end of the day, it was Hendrick Motorsports standing tall as Jimmie Johnson and his teammate Kasey Kahne finished No. 1 and No. 3, with Kevin Harvick right between them at No. 2 lurking yet again.

1. It was a day for the random

The race had its exciting moments on Sunday, but there were also times where the race was rather uneventful and had some random moments.

There were many moments to really describe Sunday, but perhaps the best way to describe the beginning of the race was this.

No it wasn’t a tumbleweed blowing through, but it might as well have had been. The start of the race had the longest green flag stretch to start a race this season and the drivers played nice on the track.

Another moment that could describe the race, was a loose tire that went rolling down the pits.

And if that doesn’t describe the day in the pits at Dover, perhaps the fact that the pit crew of Tony Stewart had to pick up broken up pieces of concrete off the ground does.

Every now and then, there is a day for strange occurrences out on the track. Today was that day at the FedEx 400.

2. Jimmie Johnson bests Kevin Harvick yet again

It was the thirteenth time in NASCAR history that Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick finished No. 1 and No. 2 when the race came to an end. Jimmie Johnson has now won 11 of those battles against Harvick.

It was Johnson’s fourth win of the season and after wrecking at Charlotte last week, he has bounced back in heroic fashion winning Dover for a record-extending 10th time in his career.

No one drives NASCAR like Jimmie Johnson, and on Sunday he was better than everyone yet again.

3. Dover still is the coolest track in NASCAR

How cool is it that the track has a giant 40+ foot monster holding a race car just hovering over the race track?

It might be a little cartoon-like, but it’s cool as hell and makes Dover one of the more entertaining tracks in NASCAR. Miles the Monster has been the longstanding mascot of the track and every year, Dover proves to be one of the toughest mile stretches in NASCAR.

Even better, the Dover trophy features Miles holding a race car, and it is easily one of the best trophies in NASCAR. It’s a smaller verison of the 40+ foot monster overlooking the track.

Tell me, who doesn’t want to win that sweet trophy?

It was an exciting finish on Sunday, to a race that started off slow. Jimmie Johnson has picked up another win at Dover and looks like the favorite now to win the cup this season.

Next week NASCAR heads to the triangle that is Pocono, where the unusual always seems to strike. Who will leave Pennsylvania with the win?
