It was a rough weekend no matter what. I at least hoped Oklahoma would put up a fight. Despite Alabama not covering, Oklahoma was never really in that game.
For the rest of the bowls, you will get my picks against the spread and point wagers just like I did all season long. I had a solid regular season, but I can make it look a whole lot better with a strong bowl season!

(9)Washington vs. (6)Ohio State(-6.5) at Pasadena, CA(3):
Washington 10-3, 8-2(1st Pac 12)
Wins: vs. North Dakota(45-3), at Utah(21-7), vs. Arizona State(27-20), vs. BYU(35-7), at UCLA(31-24), vs. Colorado(27-13), vs. Stanford(27-23), vs. Oregon State(42-23), at Washington State(28-15), vs. Utah(10-3)
Losses: vs. Auburn(16-21), at Oregon(27-30), at California(10-12)
Record vs. bowl teams: 6-3
This was supposed to be Washington’s year. Since the Huskies made the playoff behind freshmen Myles Gaskin and Jake Browning, this was the year that everyone circled for when the Huskies would arrive. Instead what we got was a plodding an inefficient offense and a defense that hasn’t been nearly as good as in the last couple of years. However, they were still good enough to hold all 12 opponents to 30 or less. Utah didn’t even put up 30 on them in both games combined.
Ohio State 12-1, 9-1(1st Big Ten (14)
Wins: vs. Oregon State(77-31), vs. Rutgers(52-3), vs. TCU(40-28), vs. Tulane(49-6), at Penn State(27-26), vs. Indiana(49-26), vs. Minnesota(30-14), vs. Nebraska(36-31), at Michigan State(26-6), at Maryland(52-51), vs. Michigan(62-39), vs. Northwestern(45-24)
Losses: at Purdue(20-49)
Record vs. bowl teams: 7-1
It’s hard to say that a quarterback “quietly” threw for 4,580 yards, but Dwayne Haskins really did. All of the talk was around Tua and Kyler, practically ignoring the video game numbers that Ohio State was putting up down the stretch.
A lot of that was lost because of the Ohio State defense. They gave up 24 to a struggling Northwestern offense, 51 to Maryland, and 31 to a Nebraska offense that finally hit it’s stride in that game. You could see a shift when Nick Bosa went down, and it only got worse.
Prediction:
These are two teams that are usually known for defense, but not so much this year. Still, the Ohio State defense still looked good against struggling offenses, and it’s safe to say that Washington falls into that category.
Then there are the things you can’t measure. Justin Herbert has already decided to stay at Oregon. A strong Rose Bowl will probably push Haskins to the NFL, and I don’t blame him. Then there is the little thing about Urban Meyer retiring and that the Rose Bowl is on his bucket list. Yeah, Ohio State isn’t losing this one, and it may not stay close.
Pick: Ohio State
Stay tuned for the rest of the bowl picks against the spread, and our DFS picks for the NBA, NFL, and even some NHL action! We have something for everyone!
