(10)Arizona(-3.5):

Losses: vs. USC(26-28), at UCLA(7-17), vs. Oregon(13-51)

Record vs. Bowl Teams: 5-3

Common Opponents:

Nevada: Boise won in Reno by five. Arizona won at home by seven. Advantage: BOISE STATE

Prediction:

That is not a typo. Boise had eight wins against seven bowl teams. On the surface, their schedule doesn’t look very tough, but that stat says maybe we need to dig a little bit deeper. None of those wins are against what I would call a marquee team. Arizona’s wins over Oregon, Utah, and Arizona State are more impressive than anything Boise has.

Arizona started the season innocently enough, struggling against average at best teams like Cal and UTSA before shocking Oregon in Eugene. That was the announcement that they were a factor on the national scene. It also showed that freshman QB Anu Solomon was ready to lead a team. He struggled in his first few road games before leading the team in Eugene. He reinforced that with a dominating win in Salt Lake City over Utah.

Both of these defenses have struggled at times this year. Boise’s more so. They gave up 30 or more points five times, but only lost one of those. That should tell you how good their offense can be. That said, this is practically a home game for the Wildcats. This is also the place where Boise pulled one of the biggest shockers in Fiesta Bowl history against Oklahoma with the hook and ladder play. You can bet Boise will show up, but will it be enough?

Pick: Arizona
