Losses: vs. Duke(25-31), at North Carolina(43-48), vs. Florida State(35-37)

Record vs. Bowl Teams: 6-3

Common Opponents:

NONE

Prediction:

The Bulldogs’s only two losses are to top ten teams on the road. They are the poster children for an eight team playoff. The growth of Dak Prescott as a player was the biggest reason for their turnaround this year. The defense still had some issues, but for the most part, that unit played well too. This was an all-around good team, but they still couldn’t top their in-state rivals in hype or in the Egg Bowl. Is it possible for the 7th ranked team to fly under the radar?

Georgia Tech’s triple option ball control offense provided plenty of issues for opposing teams this year. They aren’t all bulldozers though. They can go deep when needed, and play solid defense. They beat several ranked teams, including Clemson and Georgia. You don’t do that by accident.

This game will likely stay close because of Georgia Tech wanting to control the clock. The Mississippi State defense is good enough to stop the Yellow Jackets. I really do think that the Bulldogs are a little underrated. Their two losses are better than anyone else’s, and it’s all a product of their conference. That said, the Bees did beat a SEC team. This is an entirely different SEC team though.

Pick: Mississippi State
