Prediction:
Oregon lost at home to Arizona in a game in which their offensive line was decimated. They exacted revenge in the Pac 12 title game, thumping the Wildcats by 38 points. This is a typical Oregon team. They have tremendous speed at every position, and they are led by the best QB in college in Marcus Mariota. He just does not make mistakes.
Florida State is a team that makes a lot of mistakes. They won their last four games by a combined 14 points. The Seminoles did play nine bowl teams, but they did not play anyone currently ranked in the top ten. They have come very close to losing in eight of their 13 games. Something can be said for them getting through that unscathed, but they have not looked like a championship team for the most part. If they fall behind early to Oregon, the Ducks won’t get conservative  the way that Miami, Florida, and Notre Dame did.
The loss of CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu for Oregon is a big one. Rashad Jennings was going to be a matchup nightmare for Oregon anyway. Now it may be impossible. Even if Oregon manages to cover Jennings, someone will be open, or they will get no pressure on Winston. Oregon absolutely has to make Winston make mistakes. He has made a lot of them this year, on and off the field.
This Oregon defense might be the best one that they have had in the last decade, even without Ekpre-Olomu. They drew a good matchup in a mistake-prone FSU team that hasn’t had to deal with anyone that has the talent of Oregon. The luck stops here.
Pick: Oregon
